社会の意志決定手続きは、実現可能な選択肢に関する社会構成員の選好や態度を表明させ、それらを集約するもの、と一般的には捉えることができる。国際社会における決定手続きも同様である。本年度の研究は、純粋交換経済におけるHurwicz(1972)の定理の拡張を行った。Hurwicz(1972)の定理とは、「2財-2構成員の純粋交換経済において、構成員の戦略的選好表明を抑止しつつ、個人合理性とパレート効率性を満たす意志決定手続きは存在しない。」というものである。この定理は、メカニズム・デザインと呼ばれ、近年活発に研究されている分野がうみだされる契機となった非常に重要な定理であるが、2財-2構成員という仮定は過度に強い仮定であり、そのためこの定理の適応範囲は限られたものであった。本研究は、この定理が、任意の有限個財と任意の有限人の構成員の仮定の下でも成立することを証明した。
