项目摘要

本年度は、昨年度に引き続き、縄文時代前期を中心とする時期に西日本の日本海沿岸と琵琶湖周辺に数多く形成された低湿地性貝塚の分析を中心に行う一方、西日本の内陸部のデータを収集して、昨年度の成果との総合的検討を行った。昨年度来の調査で対象となった福井県三方町鳥浜貝塚(前期)では、この遺跡が夏から秋に集落拠点として、冬から春にはイノシシ猟を中心とした狩猟キャンプであったことを示唆するデータが得られたが、本年度は鳥浜貝塚で観察された動物遺存体上の特徴が、島根県鹿島町佐太講武貝塚、滋賀県大津市蛍谷貝塚でも見られることを確認する一方、広島県東条町の帝釈峡遺跡群での観察から、西日本内陸部でみられる遺跡が冬季に主として集落拠点の役割を果たしたことを示唆するデータを得た。これらのことから、縄文時代前期の西日本本州部では、夏から秋の温暖季に低地の淡水環境近くに定住し、冬季に内陸山岳地域に分散居住するという生活構造が広く取られていた可能性が高まったと考えている。また、温暖季に低地で定住が可能であったのは、滋賀県守山市赤野井湾遺跡の分析から、当時西日本に偏在していたコイ科魚類を中心とした淡水性のタンパク質資源の存在とその季節的大量捕獲と保存処理の実行に原因があったとみている。このような季節的回帰運動は、低湿地性貝塚が形成されなくなる中期に入ると消滅したようであるが、その後の生活構造の変容については今後さらなる研究が必要である。この点について、今年度は、昨年度に引き続き滋賀県大津市粟津湖底第3貝塚(中期初頭)のさらなる検討を進め、中期初頭にイノシシの家畜化が開始されていた可能性がさらに高まるなどの結果を得た。この結果は、前期の生活構造が、より定住度の高いものに変容していったことを示唆している。今年度はこれらの成果の一部を論文として公表したが、今後さらに複数の論文や学会において公表していく計画である。
