平成19年度は,2力年間に亘る研究の最終年度となることから電子辞書に内在する問題点を今一度,印刷体辞書活用グループ(PDg)および電子辞書活用グループ(EDg)間の学習動態に関する比較調査および比較実験を通して再検証することとした。その結果,次のような興味深い知見を得るに至った。すなわち,PDgにあっては,未知語の記銘・保持自体に関して眺めた場合には,EDgとの間で特に有意差は見受けられないものの,rawdataをひとたび細かく紐解いて眺めてみるならば,読解力の中位層にその保持率の差異が顕著に垣間見られるといった点である。また,未知語(ここでは多義語)をターゲットワードとして読解用英語長文に設定した文脈類推テストの結果を分析してみると,明らかな有意差が生じていたことから,EDgの英語学習態様には,ディスプレー初出画面の初出語義に囚われがちとなる習性が強まるのではないかとの考察が可能となった。未知語検索時のディズプレーの表示様式に,読解力育成の観点からも工夫が凝らされるべき点を痛感した次第である。そこで,これらの研究結果を受け,従来の電子辞書の未知語入力→検索→語義提示→選択の辞書引きプロセスを見直すべく,語義提示から意味抽出に至る過程を帰納的に達成し得るようなプログラム開発に着手した。しかし,プログラム開発部分にあっては,研究期間の不足から,課題を随分と残す結果となった。したがって,平成20年度科研費採択となった研究テーマ「電子辞書に依存する英語学習者のネガティプワードアタックとその矯正プログラムの開発」(基盤研究C)において十分な成果を得たいと考えている。なお,種々の実験を行った中で,とりわけ未知語推測に関わる部分に関しては,平成19年9月発行の『日本実用英語学会論叢』(No.13)に収録された。
