本研究は、地域に住む高齢者の経験力および対話力を生かして、地域コミュニティーを活性化し地域の教育力を向上させるための教育支援システムの構築を目的とする。ここでは、高齢者から児童生徒への知識や経験の伝授を円滑に実施するコミュニティーおよびそれを支援するシステム構築の可能性について調査する。平成20年度は以下の通り実施した。(1)高齢者の地域コミュニティーにおける活動に関する調査地域において高齢者を対象に実施している活動を調査し、我々の地域における科学教育推進活動と協調できるかについて検討した。その一環として、自治体が実施する高齢者対象の生涯学習講座において科学実験講座を担当し、高齢者の科学に対する興味について調査した。また、同自治体において「高齢者と小学生がチームを組んで科学実験を行う講座」を企画し、実施した。(2)地理情報を用いたモバイル型野外観察支援システムの開発高齢者の方々が野外体験学習において地域コミュニケーターを担当したときに、その活動を支援する教育システムについて検討した。そして遺跡散策を支援するシステムの基盤部を製作した。(3)地域を題材にした教材データの収集地域環境を理解するための教材コンテンツの作成に備えて、地域の基礎的な環境データ(気温・湿度)の観測・収集を実施した。
