项目摘要

Our prime focus was to assess Academic Productivity (AP) and to explore the determinant conditions of AP in institutions of higher education, this being from the perspective of comparative sociology. Further, the characteristics and issues in Japanese higher education institutions located international world and in academic research activity were investigated.In the final year of the project, works and findings up to the previous year were collected in a publication titled "A study on the Improvement of Academic Research - A survey report of academic staff in the Japanese higher education institution" (Akira Arimoto ed.)The main content of the above report is as follows : 1) Structure and function of academic research system ; 2) Fundamental survey of academic research improvement ; 3) Academic productivity in the higher education institutions in Japan ; 4) Determinants of academic life ; 5) Issues and improvementsof a cademic research ; 6) The Imperial University and academic research. In this contents, we make clear positively that there are not a few problems and tasks which should be improved on materiel, personal, and systematic perspective in Japanese academic research.Respecting to academic productivity gap and international comparison of AP, a part of result was carried in "The study of centers of learning" (Akira Arimoto ed., Toshindo, Forthcoming), and it was reported in the present survey by the analysis from the view point based on the questionnaire-survey, and also reported related research publications, even though we do not attain to the stage of publishing the whole result.

我们的主要重点是评估学术生产力（AP），并探讨AP在高等教育机构的决定性条件，这是从比较社会学的角度。此外，还调查了国际化的日本高等教育机构和学术研究活动的特点和问题。在项目的最后一年，收集了上一年的作品和调查结果，出版了题为“关于学术研究的改进的研究--日本高等教育机构学术人员的调查报告”（有本彰主编）。本报告的主要内容为：1）学术研究体系的结构与功能; 2）学术研究改善的基本概况; 3）日本高等教育机构的学术生产力; 4）学术生活的决定因素; 5）学术研究的课题与改善; 6）帝国大学与学术研究。在这些内容中，我们积极地明确了日本学术研究在物质、个人和系统的视角上存在着不少需要改进的问题和任务。关于学术生产力差距和AP的国际比较，在“学习中心的研究”（Akira Arimoto ed.，Toshindo，Forthcoming），虽然还没有达到发表全部结果的阶段，但在本次调查中，通过基于问卷调查的观点的分析进行了报道，还报道了相关的研究出版物。
