The zooarchaeological approach on he origina and diffusion of domesticated animals in the East Asia, focusing on cattle, horse and pig

We had visited Korea, China, Taiwan and Russia in this project. In Korea, we could take part in the excavation of Kimhae shellmidden conducted by Kyonnum Archaeological Institute in 2004 and advised them for its environmental analysis. Our project team for identification of the domesticated animals among the wild ones is invited by many archaeological units in East Asian countries. Dr. Minagawa could succeeded in identifying the domesticated animals from wild ones by means of the different feeding habit that was chased by stable isotopic analysis. Dr. Ishiguro could found the Eastern Asiatic domestic pig's DNA in the archaeological pig bones recovered from some archaeological sites in Japan during Jomon and Yayoi era. Our results are published in several English journals and monograph. We could identify the domesticated pigs and they were more than 7000 bp. in Okinawa Islands and it was far older than the archaeologists and zoologists had ever thought.
