项目摘要

本研究は、１９６０年代から１９７０年代のトルコ共和国に注目し、国家がどのようにしてそれまでの「世俗的なトルコ人」から敬虔な「ムスリムであるトルコ人」へと、あるべき国民像の転換を図ったのかを明らかにすることを目的としている。そのために、こうした国民像の転換につながった政治的経緯と、そうした国民像を浸透させるための主要な媒体となった宗教教育に注目し、トルコ人の国民性とムスリムであることの親和性がどのような形で宗教教育の内容に反映されたのかを検討するものである。本年度は、そうした国民像の転換の政治的経緯に迫るべく、１９６０年代から１９７０年代の政治家および知識人たちが、宗教教育および国民形成に関してどのような議論を行っていたのかを調査した。具体的には、トルコ大国民議会の議事録、国民教育省諮問会議の議事録、政党機関紙を含む複数の日刊紙を主な史料として用いた。調査にあたっては、トルコ共和国の国民形成に関する議論の背景となる、政治家たちの経歴、思想、宗教に対する理解を検討した。また、関連する行政機関として、国民教育省および宗務庁の関係者たち、そして、次年度に扱う予定である宗教教育科目の教科書執筆陣へも焦点を当て、彼らと政治家たちとの関係や、経歴の類似点、政治的思想、宗教への理解も検討した。これにより、宗教をめぐる政策上の国民像の転換が、どのような人的つながりと議論のもとに実現されたのかを分析した。
