本研究では、理科教育において学習者が結果を書き替えたり書き写したりするなどの不適切な行為について、学習者が自身の仮説や信念に合うデータばかりに着目してしまうという確証バイアスによる不適切な行為のメカニズムを明らかにすることを目的としていた。そして、一年次では、理科における確証バイアスによる不適切な行為を中心として、それらに関わる要因の検討を計画していた。このため、先行研究から確証バイアスと不適切な行為の関係を調査した。その結果、例えば確証バイアスによって実験データを不適切に分析してしまうことや、実験によって学習者が異常だと思われるデータを得た場合に、そのデータを無視したり受け入れなかったりすることが示唆された。また、確証バイアスや不適切な行為においては、学習者の批判的思考によって、その程度が異なることが考えられる。このため、本調査において、確証バイアスによる不適切な行為に関わる要因の一つとして、批判的思考に着目することとした。次に、これまでの調査をもとに、確証バイアスによる不適切な行為の質問紙を検討、作成した。具体的には、振り子の実験を題材とし、その実験における確証バイアスと起こりうる不適切な行為に関する問題を作成した。また、理科における批判的思考の尺度の中で、本調査で関連のある因子の検討を行い、質問紙へ追加した。二年次については、質問紙のさらなる検討と調査の実施、および分析を行う予定である。
