In the field of additive manufacturing, the working group "Overmeyer" deals with the production of novel optoelectronic components. Within the context of numerous research projects, methods for the manufacturing and integration of sensing and communication-capable structures, whose subsystems have both electrical and optical effects, are investigated. A major research objective is the production of optical waveguides using printing and coating processes and their optical coupling to semiconductor devices. This is associated with the suitability for mass production due to the high throughput. For the planned research work, the focus lies on the combination of different manufacturing technologies in a complex process chain that enables the functionality of the structures. The possibility of using different materials and material combinations is an important requirement for the overall system.
