我が国とアルゼンチン国における動物疾病の発症状況とその特性を明らかにするため以下の点について検討した。1)アルゼンチン国における動物疾病の発症状況産業動物:診断は一般的な疾病ならびに繁殖関連の疾病を問わず、感染症に主体がおかれ、牛ではトリコモナス(繁殖)、白血病、牛伝染性咽喉頭炎、ヨーネ病、ブルセラ病、レプトスピラ病(一般疾病)が、馬では伝染性貧血が発症状況としても多くなっている。また、ソラノ病(野草によるビタミンD過剰症)はアルゼンチンを含む中南米地域で重要な疾病である。小動物:ラプラタ大学付属家畜病院に来院数は、犬2500頭、猫400頭と犬がそのほとんどを占めている。犬種の内訳ではジャーマンシェパードが最も多く、また大型犬の占める割合が多い猫では、雑種が多く、純粋種はまれである。犬では皮膚疾患(とくに毛胞虫症、乳腺腫瘍)が多く、また腹腔内腫瘍も多い。内分泌疾患、循環器疾患はまれであるが、これに比較しててんかん発作(中枢神経障害)の発症が多い。猫では呼吸器疾患(とくに上部気道炎)ならびに猫の尿路疾患が多い。2)我が国の発症状況との比較産業動物:我が国ではワクチン接種、伝染病予防法による淘汰などで、ア国で問題となっている感染症は見ることができない。また、繁殖関連の疾病であっても、泌乳(乳牛)あるいは脂肪交雑(肥育牛)に関連する繁殖障害が問題となるがア国では原虫感染症、細菌感染症などが主要な問題となる。これらはア国における粗放牧の飼育形態と密に関連すると考えられる。また、ソラノ病は中南米に生育する野草による疾患であるが、牛の重要疾病として解決が急がれる疾病である。小動物:我が国においても腫瘍性疾患は動物の加齢にともなって著しく増加する傾向にある。ア国においても腫瘍性疾患(乳腺腫瘍、腹腔内腫瘍など)が多くを占めているが、乳腺腫瘍の割合が著しく高く、またてんかんも比較的多い。皮膚疾患が多いことから考えて、おそらくはア国では外貌から判断できる疾患を主訴に来院する例が多いと考えられる。診断に関連する機器として内視鏡診断装置、超音波診断装置は取り入れられたばかりであり、これらの機器を用いた疾病の診断技術の改良により、より詳細な疾病分類が可能となると考えられ、今後の疾病の推移を観察する必要があろう。
