少子化と女性の社会進出による保育所待機児童問題の解消に向けた、多様な保育サービスの拡充案の１つとして、小規模保育施設をはじめとする地域型保育施設の量的拡大が図られている。また同時に小規模保育施設における保育の質の向上と均一性が求められ、施設や運営における基準の統一が検討されている。そこで本研究では、小規模保育施設の施設内容を運営・管理の両側面からの実態調査を通じて明らかにし、今後の施設計画の指針を得る事を目的とする第一研究と、小規模保育施設が行なっている園外活動の詳細な実態について、追跡観察調査を行う事で、どのような地域資源が園外活動の保育資源として求められているのかを検討し、地域資源を利用した園外活動のあり方や施設を取り巻く都市環境、施設の立地条件までを含めた提案を行う事を目的とする第二研究を行う。令和4年度には、第一研究における調査対象施設8件のうち、保育室を2室持つ（2N型）施設で、かつ2室型では最も理想的と考えられた、2室とも独立した出入口を有し、2室が連続し、W・Bへの独立動線を有する【2N222型】で、a+a及びc+dパターンの使い方をしている施設2件を対象とし、現地調査を行い、各保育室における室利用の状況と保育室等諸室の家具・設備状況を明らかにした。さらに、第二研究における調査対象施設12件のうち、「新興住宅地」、「市街地」、「工業地」に所在する施設3件を対象とし現地調査を行い小規模保育施設が立地する周辺環境について、保有している資源の利用実態を明らかにした。
