音声コミュニケーション行動の獲得において、視聴覚情報がどのような役割を果たすかについて、いくつかの視聴覚実験を行った結果、以下に示すような知見が得られた。1.McGurk効果(音声知覚が話者の唇の動きによって受ける影響)について、弁別実験と同定実験を行った。その際、刺激文脈特に母音環境とMcGurk効果との関係について調べた。実験結果は、母音文脈によってMcGurk効果の生起量は影響を受けることが認められた。具体的には、母音文脈が視聴覚間で同じ場合には、視覚情報の影響を強く受けるが、異なる場合には母音の種類によってその影響の大きさは異なり、/a/や/i/の場合の方が、/u/を場合よりも大きいことが明らかとなった。2.McGurk効果を生じさせるような刺激を用いて音韻についての弁別実験を行った結果、これらの刺激においても聴覚的な音色の差が弁別されることが示唆されるような効果が得られた。以上の結果については、母語の獲得に果たす母音の役割、母音随伴効果などを考慮して、聴覚的記憶とカテゴリー的記憶を仮定した視聴覚統合モデルの作成を検討している。なお、来年度は今年度の研究をさらに発展させ、バイリンガル児の言語行動について音声分析及び行動分析を行って、音声行動の獲得に及ぼす視覚情報の役割について研究する。被験児としては父親がアメリカ人、母親が日本人の2歳と4歳の男児の場合を取り上げる。
