スーパー・リー環は,even partとodd partの直和に分解されるが,それに呼応して,ルートもeven rootとodd rootに分かれる。長さがO(ゼロ)のodd rootを“isotropic root"と呼び,isotropic rootを含むスーパー・リー環を“isotropicスーパー代数"と呼ぶ。isotropicスーパー代数はA,B,C,D,F,G型に分類されているが,その表現論については,これまで“まったく"知られてはいなかった。isotropic rootのために,Verma加群の分解列に通常のリー環の場合とは異なる事情が発生して,そのために表現の解析が極めて難かしくなるためである。筆者はN=2 super conformal代数の研究から,これらisotropicスーパー代数の表現論の重要性を認識し,それの研究に着手した。この科学研究費で購入したコンピューターと数式処理ソフトを用いて,有限次元スーパー代数およびアフィン・スーパー代数の多くの例について,指標公式や分母公式を計算し,それらのデータを解析した。そしてスーパー代数の場合には,普通のリー環と少し異なる形で,しかしかなり美しい指標公式が成立していることを見出し,それの記明を与えた。また指標公式の特殊代は,数論のある種の問題にも応用を持つことを見出した。これは,V.Kac教授(MIT)との共同研究であり,これらの結果をまとめた論文“Integrable highest weight modules over affine superalgebras and number theory"は,準備中(preprint)である。
