言語的情報からの概念形成・知識獲得について:未知語(漢字で表記される複合語)の意味の推定における知識の役割と処理機構に関して成果が得られた。(1)波多野・小嶋は一連の実験で人間(主として大学生)が未知語の意味の推定において、どのような知識をどのように利用しているかを調べ、次の5種類の知識の利用を確認した。1)未知語の構成要素である漢字の原型的意味、2)複合語の構成規則(構成要素の順序に関する規則)、3)世界に関する知識、4)語スキ-マ(どのような意味が一語で表されうるかに関する知識)、5)類似する単語の構成についての知識(用例)。(2)亀田は、未知語を処理するシステムを構築するために、単語の構成要素が2つの複合語の内部構造を自動的に解析し、単語の意味を推定することのできるプログラムを作成した。非言語的パタ-ン情報からの概念形成・知識獲得について:次の2つのテ-マに関し、相当の成果が得られた。(1)杉原は、図形からのパタ-ン概念の形成の計算論的モデルを作ることをめざして、対象図形を基本的要素とその組み合わせとしてとらえる枠組みの中で、対象図形の数がある程度増えると、それ以上新しい対象図形を追加しても基本的図形要素が変化しないという意味で安定な状態が得られることを示した。(2)堀は、言語化可能ではあるけれども通常は言語化されていないような知識を言語化することを支援するためのシステムを作成し、実験を行なった。与えられた複数の対象についての多次元デ-タを空間表現することにより、感性に関わる知識を喚起する手法を提案した。

(1)Hatano·Kojima is a group of people (mainly college students) who estimate the meaning of unknown language, adjust the use of knowledge, and confirm the use of five kinds of knowledge. 1)The prototype meaning of the unknown constituent elements of Chinese characters, 2) the rules of compound language formation (rules of sequence of constituent elements), 3) the knowledge of world relations, 4) the knowledge of language relations, 5) the knowledge of similar language formation (examples). (2)The internal structure of compound language is automatically analyzed and the meaning of single language is estimated. Non-verbal information formation·knowledge acquisition: secondary information, corresponding results (1)The basic elements of Sugihara's image form and the combination of them increase the number of new image forms and increase the basic elements of the image form. (2)Verbal knowledge is often used to support the creation of language. The method of multiple element spatial representation is proposed.
