To elucidate phototropin-mediated stomatal opening in response to blue light, we investigated the signaling components using various tools. We identified signaling components between phototropin and the plasma membrane H^+-ATPase. We also found that the autophosphorylation of phototropin is essential for both stomatal response and other phototropin-mediated responses, including phototropism, chloroplast movement, and leaf flattening.
