本研究では、情報爆発時代における人に優しい情報アクセスの一手法として質問応答技術を位置づけ、大量かつ多様な文書を知識源とする質問応答に関する基盤技術を確立する。さらに、人に優しいインタフェースという観点から一連の関連する質問文群を適切に解釈し、対話における質問応答処理を行う仕組みについても検討する。情報爆発の量・多様性の両側面に包括的に対応し、さらに、対話環境でも利用可能な質問応答システムを構築する点が本研究の特色である。本年度は、下記の知見を得た。(1)対話的質問応答の技術的な基盤となる、文脈依存型質問応答システムに関する研究関連質問群の処理においては、省略や照応表現の先行詞の解析で様々な曖昧性が生じるが、この種の曖昧性を解消するために、従来は、文脈との結束性に注目した解析に関する研究が数多くなされてきた。これに対して、本部分課題において、我々は知識源との結束性という新しい概念に基づき照応解析の曖昧性を解消する手法を提案した。これは、質問文の解釈と質問応答処理を並行して行ない、答が適切に見つかる質問文の解釈を選び、その時の答を最終的な答とする方法である。(2)マルチメディア質問応答の技術的な基盤となる、画像や地図を併用して質問に答えることができる質問応答システムに関する研究本部分課題においては、質問応答の回答として、文字による解だけでなく答を表現する画像や地図も表示できるシステムを検討した。既存の質問応答システムと画像検索、ジオコーディング、地図APIを組み合わせることにより、物に関する質問に対しては画像を、場所を問う質問に対しては地図を表示する仕組みを構築した。
