项目摘要

本研究では,接続詞や接続助詞がどのような文脈で用いられ,それ自身が周囲の文に対してどのような文脈になるかなど,接続の機能語の持つ制約を定式化し,談話構造解析への応用を検討した.その際に,接続語の持つ意味を定式化することが,談話の結束性の解析を機械的に行なうための重要な部分を占めるという観点から,日本語の接続詞,接続助詞の意味論の構築ならびにその定式化を行なった.従来からも接続語に注目した研究は行なわれてきてはいるが,自然言語処理の分野では個々の接続詞の検討が不十分であるがために,比喩理解などより柔軟な言語表現を解析するための手がかりにするには不十分であった.この認識のもとに,幾つかの接続語について検討した.その結果,接続詞「しかし」,接続助詞「ながら」,「と」について幾つかの知見が得られた.例えば,本年度の主となる公表論文においては,接続詞「しかし」の意味を対比関係として捉え,従来はそれぞれ別々に定式化していた様々な用法を,対比関係に加えて推論が必要かそうでないかという観点から扱うことにより統一的に扱えることを明らかにした.この統一化は計算機による機械的処理を容易にするものである.さらに,以上のような接続語の意味が重要になる場面としてマニュアル文に注目し,マニュアル文からそこに記述されている知識(操作手順)を抽出するための基礎的研究も行なった.特に,操作記述の形式として頻繁に用いられるif-then型の表現を中心に,マニュアル文における言語-知識間の関係を考察し,本補助金で購入したワークステーション上に試作システムを構築した.
