项目摘要

本研究課題は自然災害の予測と防災力に関する重点領域研究の領域全体の強力かつ効率的推進と、得られた成果の社会への還元を目的として組織されたものであり、目的達成のための体制を整えている。研究の推進、調整、評価に関して、研究調整委員会を設けて、小領域間・内の調整を行い、計画研究の代表者会議を招集して研究の強力な推進を図った。本委員会と研究企画担当により、災害研究に基本的な事項に関する研究方策の提言等を目的として6課題のワーキンググループを設置して研究を進めた。九州、中国、北海道で起こった集中豪雨災害、北海道十勝岳の噴火災害およびインド・ネパール国境で起こった地震災害に関する調査研究を企画し、調査団を派遣して多くの成果を収めた。国内外の災害情報の収集とデータベースの構築の具体案を災害情報委員会を中心に作成した。多数の応募論文の中から厳正な査読を経て9編の論文を欧文論文集として発刊した。6つの地区部会は年数回の集会を開催し、研究連絡と地区に特徴的な自然災害事象につき研究討議を行った。河川災害、海象災害および災害の人文社会的側面等に関する研究集会も開催した。各委員会等の提言は3回開催した全分担者による研究連絡会議に諮り、逐次実施された。研究連絡会議の決定事項や研究情報は各研究者に印刷物によって通知された。研究成果の公表および研究推進のための討議の場として自然災害科学総合シンポジウムを岡山で開催した。約200名の参加のもと、突発災害調査報告やワーキンググループの研究成果が示され、討議された。社会の防災力の小領域に関連する研究報告会を東京で開催した。63年度の本重点領域研究で行われた研究の成果集録、ワーキンググループの報告書、突発災害調査報告書等を各大学や官庁の関係部局へ配布した。これらは災害原因の究明や防災対策に資するものとして活用されている。
