本研究においては,駐車場案内システムを対象として,情報提供効果の効果検証を試みた.特に情報提供がドライバーに経時的に及ぼす影響を考察するために,コンピュータによる実験システムの構築を行った.この実験システムを利用して,1)情報取得によるドライバーの即時的な行動変化,2)情報を取得可能なサンプルと情報提供されないサンプルの駐車場に関する知識レベルの差異の定量的な把握,3)継続的な情報提供の駐車場選択に及ぼす影響の定量的な把握,などを行った.具体的には,ドライバーの歩行距離の変化や,利用率の推移等から情報提供効果の検証を試みた.分析結果より,満空情報が提供されている際には,ドライバーは若干距離が長くても,空いている駐車場へ移動する可能性が高いことが分かった.また,待ち時間情報が提供された場合においては,あまり混雑が激しくないときには逆に目的地近辺の駐車場へ利用が集中し,混雑が激しいときには満空情報提供時と同様,より遠い駐車場を利用する傾向となる.また,ドライバーが駐車を行うのに要した時間は情報提供下では情報が無いときと比較して短くなっており,情報提供によりドライバーは便益を受けることが示唆された.この傾向は,より高度な情報である待ち時間情報提供下の方が顕著になる.さらに,ドライバーの駐車場選択のモデル化を試みた.離散選択モデル(ロジットモデル)を適用し,情報の有無と駐車場選択行動の差異を比較した.この結果,1)情報提供が行われていない場合,ドライバーは過去の駐車場利用経験を参考にして駐車場を選択し,情報が与えられると,過去の利用経験よりも情報を信頼した選択を行う,2)情報を受けることによって,距離の重要度が下がり,情報提供されればより遠い駐車場を選択する傾向にある,などの知見を得た.
