昭和59年度に定めた研究の基本方針に従い、各研究分担者を主査とする16の小委員会ごとに、各専門分野の保憎用語、改訂用語、新規採録用語、およびそれらの優先順位に関する調査研究を実施した。その結果(第1次案)をもって、学術用語としての評価・選定を行って、対英訳等を入れた第二次案、さらにこれを評価・再検討を行った小委員会最終案を得つつある。これら16小委員会の調査研究状況は次のとおりである。【◯!1】小委員会最終案完成のもの:橋梁工学等(850語),海岸港湾(1,100語),トンネル工学(1500語),都市計画・地域計画(1000語),道路工学(800語),測量学(900語)の6部門(計約6150語) 【◯!2】第二次案の段階のもの:水理・水文・河川工学(約1500語),発電工学(約800語),土質・基礎・岩盤(約1300語),コンクリート工学(約2500語)の4部門(計約6100語)【◯!3】第一次案の段階のもの:耐震工学(約200語),材料力学・構造解析(約600語),鉄道工学(約1,100語),土木計画・交通計画(約2,000語),衛生工学(約1,000語),施工学(約9000語)の6部門(計約14,000語)なお、上記【◯!1】および【◯!2】の段階では、各分野とも関連する学協会との連絡をとりながら作業を進めている。今後、16分野相互の調整および削除を行うと共に、再度、対英訳のチェック等を行う予定である。
