本研究は、19世紀末から現代にいたる時代のさまざまな種類の大衆歌謡について、その歴史的変遷、作品としての構造(歌詞および曲)、地域による相違、社会的影響、〈高級文学〉との関連などを、幅広い視点から考察しようとするものであるが、本年度はまず基本的な資料の収集、機材の購入を行なった。具体的には、19世紀ドイツ・ベンケルザング関係、世紀転換期から20世紀前半の時代のウィ-ン・オペレッタ、カバレット関係の文献(書籍ならびに楽譜)、音声資料(レコ-ド,CD等)の購入、これらの資料を活用するためのコンピュ-タ-本体の購入が中心となった。これらを利用してのデ-タ入力,分類等は、今後長期的な計画にしたがって進められる予定であるが、すでに作業は開始されている。本研究の遂行のためには、今後さらに20世紀の大衆歌謡文化(具体的には大都市のカバレットの歌、ベルリン・オペレッタ、1920年代以降の流行歌、映画主題歌、第二次大戦後のLiedermacherやロック歌手のヒット・ソング等)についても資料を集め、政治、経済、社会情勢、外国文化の影響、いわゆる〈エリ-ト文化〉との関わり等に目を向けながら、総合的な考察をしてゆかなくてはならない。その意味でも、本研究への補助金が1年で打ち切られてしまったことは残念であるが、自費による研究を続行し、機会があれば再度の申請をしたいと考えている。なお、本研究のひとつの成果として、論文「陽気なミュ-ズの世紀末ーー世紀転換期ウィ-ンのオペレッタとキャバレ-」を執筆、これは木村直司編著『ウィ-ン世紀末の文化』(東洋出版)1990年10月発行)に発表された。
