群集状況においては、群集を構成する個々人の微視的行動の集積として、群集レベルにおいて大域的な構造化が生じることがある。本研究では、これを巨視的行動パタ-ンと命名し、その一例として、大規模な横断歩道上の群集流における人流の帯状構造を発見した。帯状構造とは、横断歩道上で反対方向に進行する2つの歩行者群が、互いに同一方向に進む人の帯(例)を形成しスム-ズにすれ違う際に観察される巨大な縞模様状の構造である。本研究では、第1に、横断歩道上に形成された巨視的行動パタ-ンを、群集状況の連続写真とコンピュ-タ-を用いた画像処理によって計量する方法の開発を試みた。具体的には、まず、大阪市北区の横断歩道において、歩行者群集の流動状況を横断歩道上方から俯瞰撮影した連続写真から、ディジタイザ-を用いて、横断歩道上での各歩行者の位置を2次元座標として時系列的に測定した。次に、この座標を用いて、全横断者の横断状況をコンピュ-タ-グラフィックスとして再現した。最後に、得られたコンピュ-タ-グラフィックスを画像解析し、分散分析の手法を応用して人流の構造化の程度を0から1の数値として表現した。この新たに開発した指標「帯化指標」の時間的変動は、実際の歩行者群集における構造化の変動を適確に反映するものであった。本研究では、第2に、こうした巨視的行動パタ-ンの形成・定着・変容・消滅過程(マクロ)と群集を構成する個々の歩行者の微視的行動(ミクロ)との関連に関する予備的分析を行なった。具体的には、微視的行動の集積が群集レベルの巨視的行動パタ-ンに発展する過程をコンピュ-タ-シミュレ-ションを用いて解析した。すなわち、個々人の微視的行動を支配する幾つかの特性(歩行時の進路決定特性)を表現するパラメ-タを体系的に変化させたときに生じる巨視的行動パタ-ンの時間的変動を検討した。
