In order to reorganize cooperative research projects in the field of Transmission aids of sound/picture information for sensory impairment, status of activities in Japan and other countries regarding research topics of sound information processing and visual/tactile displays of sound information for hearing impairment, and, picture information processing and auditory/tactile display of picture information for visual impairment were analyzed systematically. As the results, future directions of effective activities which invclude several newly introduced topics in this field were established.
