英文摘要
The purposes of this international cooperative study are exchanging scientific ideas and discussing technological subjects to develop a totally implantable artificial heart. The technology includes the improvement of hemocompatibility, mainly antithrombogenicity, of a device and the establishment of basic technology for the development. In this fiscal year, The Second Korea-Japan Joint Conference was held in Suita, Osaka, Japan as a workshop to reach for the purposes and progresses of the technology were reported.1.Basic research and development of components of a implantable artificial heart. An electrohydraulic actuator to activate a total artificial heart was developed and improvements of output performance of the pump system was carried out in National Cardiovascular Center N(NCVC) of Japan. In Hokkaido Tokai University, an electro-mechanical ventricular assist device has evaluated in a mock loop. Research development of a moving-actuator-type total artificial heart was conducted in … More Seoul National University (SNU) in Korea. A transcutaneous energy transfer system was also designed and its in vitro and in vivo characteristics were evaluated in Japan. Concerning blood pumps, bilcaflet-type of SNU and jellyfish-like-shaped of Tokyo University polymer valves were investigated for application as artificial valves, and configuration of blood chambers of a sac-type pump of SNU and a centrifugal pump of NCVC was studied flow visualization techmiques.2.Basic research in hemocompatibility of artificial organs and its application to blood pumps. In order to improve the antithrombogenicity of a blood pump, a few investigations were carried out. They were development of an antithrombogenic polyurethane, application of a bioengineering technology of hybrid tissues, endothelial cell seeding onto extracellular matrix on polyurethane sheets, and lumbrokinase- immobilization on the surface of a blood pump. The first two were accomplished Japan and the latter two were in Korea. Basic research activities were molecular biological studies on tissue factor pathway inhibitor and adsorption of the surface in a total artificial heart and a left ventricular assist device.3.Evaluation of the performance of artificial hearts. An electrohydraulic total artificial heart and a centrifugal pump were applied to experimental animals and satisfactory in vivo performances were proved in NCVC. A moving-actuator-type artificial heart of SNU was implanted in a calf and the circulation of the animal was maintained for 10 hours. Postoperative management of an animal with an artificial heart was simulated by a computer in SNU. Less
