今回の研究では,全国の施設園芸産地の状況を秘録把握するために,イクテンシヴな調査を主軸とした。調査地は愛知県渥美半島地域,茨城県波崎町,栃木県二宮町,高知県芸西村,同県野市町,福岡県八女市などの施設園芸地域のほかに,畑作地比較の意味で高原野菜産地である長野県川上村でも調査をおこなった。今回,明らかになった点は次のとおりである。第1は,とくに先発施設園芸産地について,水田中心の農業の時代には条件不利地域であったこところが,戦後になって急速に発展してきたことである。概して水田に付随する共同体規則の弱い地域であったことは,畑作地なので当然といえ銘記すべきである。第2は産地組織発展の経路についてである。産地化当初は集落を単位とした既存の組織が,施設園芸における普及・販売組織の母体となる。しかし、技術の進展に従って産地内部の技術格差が広がり,先進農家によって産地内グループが形成されるようになる。つまり,全層的な産地発展の段階から,階層的分化の段階に至る。また,自発的グループの生成は,産地基盤によって規定されるだけでなく,趣味や関心,年齢などもその結合要因となる。こうしたメンバーシップが流動的なネットワーク的グループの形成は,農業者の新しい生活タイプを予想させるものとして今後重要と思われる。第3は継続的に調査をおこなっている愛知県渥美半島についてである。そこでは,施設園芸農家の人間関係を,生産面・生活面におけるつきあいという視点から研究をおこなった。その結果,この地域のつきあいには3つの層があり,とくに第2のつきあいの層がかつての半農半漁的社会における文化的遺産を組織原理的に継承していることがわかった。この成果については近いうちに公表したいと考えている。なお,アンケート調査は全体的状況把握を中心としたため実施しなかった。この点については今後の課題としたい。
