当初の研究計画では、日本における温室栽培における持続可能性についての議論と現地の対応を主題としていたが、温室に関わる環境負荷の議論が日本ではほとんど課題とされていないことを確認した上で、地理的認証（GI）を取得した温室栽培作物（具体的にはトマトと万願寺トウガラシ）が季節性の概念とどのように折り合いをつけているかというテーマに焦点を当てて調査研究を実施した。この課題設定の修正については、私たちが所属する研究室の他の研究者や大学院生からの示唆も大きい。現地調査は、トマトについては熊本県八代市の「塩トマト」、および万願寺トウガラシについては京都府の舞鶴市や綾部市、福知山市において実施した。八代市においては、研究室メンバーの援助も得ながら、生産者やJA関係者、小売店など14件のインタビュー調査をおこない、京都府においては、雇用した大学院生の支援を得ながら、同様に生産者やJA関係者など14件のインタビュー調査をおこなった。これらの調査結果をもとに、地理的認証という環境や風土と結びつけられる概念が、季節性、ここではとくに温室栽培という技術によって自然に手を加えられた季節性とどのように結びつけられるのかという、根本的な問いを現在、考察中である。季節性という概念が社会的に構築される点に注目して、理論化を進めている。来日前にフランスで同様の関心のもとに実施してきた研究成果を、下記のように学術論文として発表した。この成果を今後の日本での研究の参照材料とする。BLANCANEAUX Romain, 2022.
