1、『神道集』校本の作成:『神道集』諸本のうち、古本系の真福寺本巻1・3と7、流布本系の東洋文庫本、同系神宮文庫蔵の旧豊宮崎文庫本と旧林崎文庫本について閲覧・調査した。東洋文庫本については紙焼写真を入手したが、他については写真撮影・複写等が許可されないので、上野国関係の話についてのみ時間の許す限り筆写した。これらと、影印が刊行されている旧赤木文庫本や河野本、天理本巻8とを比較し、上野国関係話の校本作成を、後記の作業と並行して行った。現在も作成作業を続けている。2、在地資料の収集・分類:巻6「上野国児持山事」に関連する在地資料である「吾妻七社大明神縁起」・「和利宮縁起」等について、12種の伝本の存在を確認し、そのうち7本について閲覧・調査した。その成果の一部は『群馬高専レビュー』第12号(1994、2)に発表した。また、巻7「伊香保大明神事」に関連する「水沢寺縁起」2種と断簡、巻8「八ケ権現事」に関連する「柳沢寺所伝ノ縁起」・「船尾記」等、巻8「那波八郎大明神事」に関連する「飯玉縁起」等についても閲覧・調査を終了した。下記(3)の作業と並行して諸本の分類整理を現在もすすめている。3、『神道集』と在地資料の比較・検討,4、周辺文芸との関わりと特質の解明:前記1・2の作業に殆どの時間をとられてしまったため、3・4については充分に成し得なかったが、その中で、巻7「伊香保大明神事」と「水沢寺縁起」の比較・検討については着手しており、平成6年度中にはその成果を発表できる見込みである。また、周辺文芸との関わりについても、巻7「伊香保大明神事」・巻8「八ケ権現事」や各種の在地資料に共通してみられる榛名山東麓の寺院滅亡譚に着目し、お伽草子『秋夜長物語』や『平家物語』巻4「三井寺炎上」との類型性を手掛かりに、その生成過程と特質について考察中である。
