The Development of Old English Verbs of Motion

这三年来，我一直致力于古英语运动动词的发展。这项研究的目的是考察古英语时期所有的运动动词，它们的功能和意义，它们特有的特点，并找出以前研究中从未报道过的例子。第一年，必须收集书籍、文章和计算机语料库作为基本材料。从第一年开始，我就开始在国内或国外发表部分研究结果。每当我走出国门，我都会阅读论文，在图书馆里审阅手稿，并继续收集这一主题的材料。我去过两次国际英语历史语言学会议(ICEHL)(爱丁堡和波兹南)和两次利兹大学的国际中世纪大会。在国内，我连续三次在日本英语语言学会的大会上发表论文，在京都英语历史语言学和语言学会议上发表论文，在日本中世纪英语研究学会发表论文。我在国内读了5篇论文，在国外读了4篇，写了16篇文章(其中6篇已经发表)，一本书和三部合著。研究结果将被收入《中世纪英语运动动词的发展》一书中，不久将在英国出版。

For these three years I have been working on this subject, the development of Old English verbs of motion. The aim of this study is to examine all verbs of motion in the Old English period, their function and meaning, their features peculiar to that period, and to find instances which have never been reported in previous studies.For the first year, books, articles, and computer corpora had to be collected as basic materials. From the very first year I started publishing parts of the findings either at home or abroad. Whenever I went out of the country, I read papers, examined manuscripts in libraries, and kept on collecting materials for the subject. I have been to the International Conference on English Historical Linguistics (ICEHL) twice (Edinburgh and Poznan) and International Medieval Congress at University of Leeds twice. At home I delivered papers in general meetings of the English Linguistic Society of Japan three times in succession, in the Kyoto Conference on English Historical Linguistics and Philology, and in the Japan Society for Medieval English Studies. I read 5 papers at home, 4 abroad, wrote 16 articles (6 of which have already been published), one book and three joint works. The results will be incorporated into a book entitled The Development of the Verbs of Motion in Medieval English and will be published from the U.K.in the near future.
