当該テーマに対する調査・研究を進展させ、今後のより本格的な調査・研究の展開と成果の発表に向けて基礎的な枠組みを組み立てることができた。当初の目的に関連して、特に次の二点の問題に対する暫定的結論を導きだした。第一に、朝鮮総督府中枢院が組織的中心となってすすめた調査事業の学問的方法論には、機能主義や柳田民俗学の他に、実定法のパラダイムが色濃い影響を与えていることが分かった。つまり、当時の文化研究の支配的パラダイムとともに、支配と社会改良に動機づけられた法学の実戦的枠組みが強く作用していたのである。第二に、朝鮮総督府の1930年代の文化政策は、朝鮮全体の資本主義化と社会変容の進行を背景に、農村振興運動に代表されるような地域社会へのより柔軟かつ徹底した介入と深い関連をもつことがはっきりした。こうした「文化と権力」との微妙な結び付きは、セマウル運動を始めとして、解放後の韓国にも顕著に認められる。本研究の反省点は、予想していたこととはいえ、調査事業の直接の関係者に会うことができず、文献調査を超える発見がほとんどなかったことである。文化や慣習を植民地政府が調査することの意味を自分なりに捉えている生存者に巡り会うことはついにできず、この方向からの検証は見通しが立たなかった。今後は、未公刊の中枢院の資料までを調査の対象に含め、より徹底した実証研究と理論的探究を踏まえ、博士論文の完成へとつなげたい。
