本研究では、(1)用具的文化である国語の識字能力と、母語の識字能力の両面を発達させること、(2)主流民族の文化のみでなく、少数民族の文化をも発展させること、などを目的とする文化的多元アプローチの確立を目指した。タイ国を事例とした本研究では、同化型少数民族(華人)と、分離独立型少数民族(マレー系イスラム教徒)に対する識字教育の特質と問題点を明かにした。面接式質問紙調査の分析結果から、この画一的識字教育は、同じ仏教徒でタイ系との混血や文化的に同化が進んでいる華人系の間では、比較的容易に受容されていったことがわかった。しかしマレーシア国境に隣接する南タイに在住するマレー系イスラム教徒は、母語であるマレー語方言が日常に使用されており、また、宗教も仏教と異なるため、タイ語タイ文化のみの画一的識字教育では対応しきれず、現在もタイ語の識字率が他の地域に比べて低い状態にあった。タイ語をほとんど理解出来ない祖父母世代、日常会話程度のタイ語ならやや理解出来る父母世代、初等教育をタイ語で受けており、国語であるタイ語と母語であるマレー語方言の両方を理解出来る子供世代との間には、明らかに世代間格差が出てきており、祖父母世代は、サバイバルスキルである用具的文化(instrumental cultural)のタイ語学習の必要性は認めながらも、マレー語方言の喪失の恐れと、主流民族に文化的にも同化されるのでは、という危惧を抱いていた。これらの結果から、個々の民族の文化や言語を最大限に尊重し、民族性、性、言語、文化などをテキストに組み入れた識字教育における文化的多元アプローチの確立が必要であることがわかった。

This study is aimed at: (1) the development of literacy skills in Mandarin and mother tongue by means of culture;(2) the establishment of cultural diversity in mainstream and minority cultures. This study focuses on the characteristics of literacy education for assimilated ethnic groups (Chinese) and separated ethnic groups (Chinese). The analysis results of the face-to-face questionnaire survey show that the literacy education of the same group of believers is easy to accept and assimilate with the mixed culture. In the south, there is no language, no language. Grandparent generation, daily conversation level, native language, parent generation, primary education, native language, native language, dialect, child generation, generation generation, generation The necessity of language learning in instrumental culture is recognized, and the fear of language dialect loss is recognized. The fear of assimilation of mainstream culture is recognized.
