【研究実績の概要】本研究の目的は、学校制度の導入が地方における書籍商(本屋)の形成に与えた影響を検討することにより、「学校」のもっている文化的な影響力を、民衆の読書環境との関連で明らかにすることである。具体的には、以下のような方法で調査を実施した。1 19世紀末(明治期)における新潟県の書籍商の悉皆調査2 新潟県における書籍商の形成過程の解明3 近代学校制度の導入と書籍商の形成との関連の調査・検討本年度の研究においては、このうち3の調査を中心とし、以下の3点を主な目標とした。(1)新潟県内において発行された各種書籍・雑誌・新聞等における商品広告から、学校関係用品の広告類の収集、それらの商品の販売店・販売実態などの解明。(2)明治初期に開校された小学校関係資料の収集、書籍・教育用具等の購入実態の解明。(3)悉皆調査によって判明した書籍商の個別的事例調査による、その営業関係資料の収集、営業実態の解明。このうち、(1)の調査の結果、各書籍商が、学校用書籍・文房具などの各種学校用品の販売を重要な商業戦略としていること、書籍商の顧客として、中学生などの学校生徒が重要な役割を果たしつつあったこと、日本における学校慣行が定着してくる明治30年代後半に、今日の書店と同様の書籍棚陳列型の販売方式が普及してくることなどを明らかにすることができた。(2)、(3)については、今回は体系的な調査を実施するにいたらず、今後の課題として残された。

The purpose of this study is to discuss the influence of school system on the local library business, the influence of school culture, and the relationship between public library environment. The specific investigation methods are as follows: 1. An investigation into the knowledge of booksellers in Niigata at the end of the 19th century (Meiji period); 2. An explanation of the formation of booksellers in Niigata; 3. An investigation into the introduction of modern school systems and the formation of booksellers; and 4. An investigation into the relationship between the introduction of modern school systems and the formation of booksellers. (1)In New York City, a variety of books, magazines, news, etc. are published, and a collection of school relations products, sales of goods, and sales status are explained. (2)An explanation of the collection of primary school relationship data, purchase of books and educational equipment in the early Meiji period (3)All of them were investigated to identify the individual cases of booksellers. The investigation included the collection of business relationship data and the explanation of business practice. The results of the survey (1) show that the sales of various school supplies by booksellers, school books and stationery are important to business, booksellers 'customers, middle school students and school students are important to business, and school practices in Japan are stable in the second half of the Meiji 30s. Today's bookstores and bookshelves are selling in the same way. (2)(3) The investigation of the current system is carried out in the middle of the day, and the problems in the future are still unresolved.
