项目摘要

本研究助成の研究課題に基づき、以下の成果を挙げることを得た。(1)戯作者としての風来山人について、その考究の基礎となる資料・文献の収集を、ほぼ完成した。またこれにより、従来『平賀源内先生二百年祭誌』に載る「文献目録」が最も詳細であった源内の資料・文献目録を大幅に補訂する目録を用意することが出来た。(2)源内の事蹟年譜に関しては、事実としての事蹟を確定するために、この人物にまつわる口碑・伝承の数かずを、いま一度整理し、それらを改めて弁別すべき必要性を、より強く感じるに至った。この人の文芸面を確実に把握するには、ただひとり。文芸上の事蹟のみをすくい上げるだけは不十分であり、そのためには、全人的な年譜を用意する必要がある。これについては、引き続いての課題としたい。(3)源内の著述の書誌的な整理については、本研究以前から、「平賀源内の文芸史的位置」と題した拙稿(正・続・拾遺1)の中で考察を進めて来た。しかし、例えば『風来六部集』(『風来六々部集』)ひとつとってみても、その諸本は輻輳を極めており、これについても、集中的な調査が不可欠であるとの認識を得るに至った。また、この点は、源内(その諸作)が、近世期のみならず、近代に至っても非常な人気を博したことを自ずから示してもいる。近世・近代を通じた、風来山人書誌の充実を、今後ともはかって行きたい。以上、本研究課題の遂行を通じて、むしろ今後のより大きな課題を得たことは、得難い収穫であった。改めて、風来山人(戯作者としての源内)の測り知れない魅力を感じつつ、本研究課題のなお一層の進展をはかりたい。
