本研究の主眼は,(1)「文化グローバル化」に関連した欧米系の文献を学際的観点から収集,整理し,(2)これをもとに,社会学理論の文脈での有効な分析図式を作成すること,さらに,(3)グローバル文化の国際比較研究を計画すること,であった。(1)の文献研究に関しては,80年代以降のものに重点を置いた(70年代以前については,拙著『文化と価値:文化体系論ノート』(1977)および『T.パーソンズ 文化システム論』(訳,解説,1991)において扱った)。グローバル現象については,60年代のR.Aron,A.Ethioniらのinternational reration分析に発して,直接にはI.Wallerstein,A,Giddensらの業績が顕著であるが,文化との関連でこの問題を扱ったものは,M.Featherstone,R.Robertson,B.S.TurnerといったSage出版グループの研究成果にみるべきものが多い。米国のG.RitzerによるMcDonaldizationの研究は,伝統的社会学理論の延長上に消費文化のグローバル化を分析したもので注目に値する。(2)以上の先行研究を参考にしつつ,社会学理論の文脈で次のような分析図式を作製した。つまり,まず第一に,文化の構成要素(文化システムの下位システム)を細分化し,二つの軸(globalize-localize,集積性の高いもの-集積性の低いもの)を設定する。これによって分類された四次元の文化要素が,不均衡に変化,発展し,社会システムの構造化の要因をなしていた文化の機能が低下し,文化と社会の両システムのズレが増大してゆく,という理論的帰結を得た。これについては,1996年7月フィンランド,タンペレ大における国際学会で発表した。(3)については,B.S.Turnerをリーダーとして,Generation Study of the Post War Elite研究を発足させ,共有文化(グローバル文化)の持続性について,数ヶ国の比較研究に着手しつつあるが,現在B.S.Turnerによるオーストラリアにおける予備調査が進行中である。

The main focus of this study is: (1) the collection and arrangement of European literature related to cultural transformation;(2) the establishment of analytical formulas for sociological theory; and (3) the planning of international comparative studies on cultural transformation. (1)In the literature research, the emphasis has been placed since the 1980s (before the 1970s, the author wrote "Culture and Value: A Discussion of Cultural Systems"(1977) and "T. A Discussion of Cultural Systems"(1991)). R.Aron,A.Ethioni, International Ration Analysis in the 1960s, I.Wallerstein,A. Giddens, Cultural Relations Research in the 1960s,M.Featherstone,R.Robertson,B.S.Turner, Sage Publishing. G.Ritzer's research on McDonaldization is an extension of traditional sociological theory and an analysis of consumer culture. (2)The above preceding research is referred to, and the sociological theory is analyzed in the context of the analysis. In the first place, the cultural elements (cultural categories and subordinate categories) are subdivided, and the second axis (globalize-localize, collectivity high middle and collectivity low middle) is set. The four elements of culture are divided into different categories, and the unbalanced development of culture and society is due to the low function of culture and society. In July 1996, the International Academy of Sciences announced that (3)B.S.Turner,Generation Study of the Post War Elite, Persistence of Shared Cultures, Comparative Studies of Several Countries, Preliminary Investigation of B.S.Turner's History of the Post War Elite.
