项目摘要

インドにおける農村工業化とジェンダーに関する既存研究のサーベイを行い、農村工業化とジェンダーとの相互関係ついて検討した。とくに本研究の課題と関連性の高い(1)フランクリン・メンデルスを嚆矢とするプロト工業化論、(2)アマルティア・センの「喪われた女性」に関する研究、(3)エスター・ボズラップの制度変化とジェンダーに関する研究について検討した。従来の研究方法が有する長所と短所を明らかにし、それらを相互補完的に用いることの有効性を指摘した。農村工業化と人口増加の関係、およびジェンダー格差を規定する社会経済的要因を明らかにするため、インドの人口、経済に関するデータの収集・整備を行った。そして、インドのデリーおよびバンガロールにおいて、経済改革以降の、経済状況、栄養水準、教育水準、出生行動、就業行動、女性の社会的地位の変化を把握するため、ヒアリング調査を行った。併せて、関係資料の収集・分析を行った。以上のデータ・資料の分析を通じて、経済改革および農村工業化には、ジェンダー格差を拡大するメカニズムが存在する一方で、逆にジェンダー格差を縮小するメカニズムも存在することを指摘した。インドの比較対象地域である中国における経済改革とジェンダーとの関係について、既存研究、人口・経済に関する統計、資料の収集と分析を行った。また、近年中国国内の女性支援政策を重視し、関係機関、関係団体の活動記録、報告書を収集し、女性支援政策の実践事例の分類、整理を行った。
