A STUDY ON THE CHARACTERISTICS AND THE FORMATION PROCESSES OF THE TOWN-HOUSES IN MODERN AGES -A CASE STUDY OF THE TOWN-HOUSES IN KYOTO-

On this study, by picking up town-houses in Kyoto-city of modern ages，we drew the personal style and design of modern ages，investigated the characteristics of them.我们考虑expanding the road had an effect onthe town houses and the building lots by clearing the way.The summary of this study can be givenbelow: The characteristics of town-houses were classified 4 types which were the_signboard stylewestern houses attached stylethe western houses connected style and the complete western houses style. signboard and thewestern houses style were foemed by the extension of roads. Toriniwa style andOmoteya-zukuri style which were characteristics of town-houses in Edo period were succeeded in theseplans after Meiji period. The modern town houses were given a great influence by The expanding TheMoreover the Kamo River, which runs on the eastside of the street，became the factor that decided Kawaramachi-street form. Therefore the scene of Kawaramachi-streetbecame especial that couldn't be seen at any other streets。
