From 2000 to 2003 I visited Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Armenia in order to gather books and materials about the project. I analyzed those materials as well as the materials gathered in Japan and wrote a report on problems of the nations in the former Soviet Union. The report is composed of five chapters as follows ; the first chapter focuses on the problems of the nations in the Russian Federation, especially on the historical background and the present state of the conflicts between Russia and Chechnya ; the second chapter deals with Jewish problems from the Russian Empire in the 19-th century to the new Russia ; the third chapter describes Russo-Ukraine relations after the disintegration of Soviet Union ; the fourth chapter deals with problems between Russia and Baltic States ; and the last chapter focuses on the problems of the trans-Caucasus nations.

从2000年到2003年，我访问了俄罗斯、乌克兰、爱沙尼亚、拉脱维亚、立陶宛和亚美尼亚，以便收集有关该项目的书籍和材料。我分析了这些材料以及在日本收集的材料，并就前苏联国家的问题写了一份报告。报告共分五章，第一章论述了俄罗斯联邦的民族问题，特别是俄罗斯与车臣冲突的历史背景和现状；第二章论述了从19世纪的俄罗斯帝国到新俄罗斯的犹太人问题；第三章论述了苏联解体后的俄乌关系；第四章论述了俄罗斯与波罗的海国家之间的问题；最后一章论述了跨高加索国家的问题。
