We showed the gene expression of TGF β 1, TGF β 2, and TGF β 3 in the uterus stimulated by estrogen. To investigate the physiological role of these TGF β isoforms we did in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry study. By these study the gene expression of TGF βs were recognized more potent in epithelium than stroma In addition, these gene expression was confirmed as protein expression by immunohistochemistry. If the protein appeared by estrogen had physiological action, a receptor must be present. And we showed the presence of the receptor that was necessary for biological action. In addition, these protein decreased when estrogen was administered, and it was suggested that these action were controlled at a receptor levelThe moleculer mechanism of expression of TGF β by estrogen is still unclear. However, gene expression by estrogen and protein expression and the presence of a receptor strongly suggest that these protein take an important role in action mechanism of estrogen.
