A Time Use Survey of Employed Married Couples in 2000-Toward New Research Method on Welfare Study

2000年，我们对居住在东京佐贺谷区的100多对已婚夫妇进行了时间使用情况调查。调查的参与者是已婚夫妇，他们都有工作或只有丈夫有工作。我们公开邀请参与我们的调查。在146名志愿者中，我们获得了129个有效样本。从年龄、教育程度、职业和收入分配等方面与官方统计数据对比，我们发现，与平均人口相比，我们的参与率较高，受教育程度和收入较高，白人工人的比例高于平均水平。本次调查的主要结果是：1)平日的平均时间数据显示，有充分就业的女性伴侣的夫妇睡眠时间较少。2)在平日社会/文化活动的参与率方面，全职就业夫妇的“与家人一起放松”和“文化活动和爱好”的参与率较低。

We conducted time use survey in the year 2000 by over one hundred employed married couples living in Satagaya-ward, Tokyo. The survey participants are the married couples with both employed or only the husband under employment. We publicly invited participation in our survey. Of the total 146 volunteered, we obtained 129 effective samples. Their representative ness was checked against official statistics as regards age, education, occupation and income distribution, and it was found that our participation in comparison with those of the average population bad higher levels of education and income with the percentage of white color workers higher than average.The main results of this survey are: 1) The average time data on weekdays show that those couples with the female partner fully employed have less time for sleep. 2)As to the rates of participation in weekday social/cultural activities, the rates of 'Relaxing with Family Members' and 'Cultural Activities and Hobbies' are lower on the part of the full-time employed couples.
