本年度の研究概要は,以下の2点である.第1に,現在の研究対象である芸能ビジネスと,他のエンターテイメント・ソフト産業との比較分析を行った.主な比較対象は,マンガビジネスである.マンガビジネスを構成するコミックとアニメーション事業およびそれらから派生するキャラクター商品事業の事業間関係と,芸能ビジネスの事業間関係の比較である.分析から明らかになった両ビジネスの共通点は,事業シナジーである.両ビジネスは,単独事業では必ずしも利益をあげられない構造的な問題を抱えている.たとえば,芸能ビジネスでは歌手のコンサート事業,マンガビジネスではテレビアニメ事業である.これらの事業は,単独では赤字あるいはごくわずかな利益しか得られない場合が多い.しかしながら,これらの事業がもつ広告効果は,関連する事業の利益を増大させることが明らかになった.収益性の低いこれらの事業は,利益を享受する他事業とスポンサーやライセンス契約を締結することによって,事業の存続を可能にしている.つまり,互いの強みと弱みを補完することで,ビジネス全体の利益を拡大させる事業シナジーが機能しているのである.一方,両ビジネスの相違点は,素材を多重利用できる範囲の違いである.マンガビジネスでは,素材がコミックやアニメの架空キャラクターであるのに対し,芸能ビジネスでは,歌手や俳優など実在の人物が素材となる.したがって,物理的・時間的な理由,またはタレントの意向などの理由により,多重利用に限界が生じる.第2は,芸能ビジネスの海外進出に関する調査結果と,他のエンターテイメント・ソフト産業の海外進出との比較である.これに関しては,現在,分析を行っている段階であり,第1の研究概要の内容とあわせて,公表する予定である.前述のように,研究成果は,現在,論文を執筆している段階である.論文は完成後,公表し,学会等の報告を行う予定である.
