前年度に引き続き、弁証法的思考法の一般理論を明確化するために、社会心理学、発達心理学、認知心理学、教育心理学、社会認知、文化心理学といった心理学を中心とした文献レビューを行い、さらに理解を深めた。一般理論の理解と明確化をベースに、それを創造的コンフリクト解消研究の文脈の中で、具体的な仮説に落とし込む作業を行なった。仮説を構築する過程では、創造的コンフリクト解消研究においてこれまで蓄積された知見が、弁証法的思考法の一般理論の構築に貢献することが確認された。また、デプス・インタビューなどの探索的手法で、新たな仮説構築の方向性を模索した。構築された仮説を整理し、体系化しながら、それらを効果的に実証する方法論、特に実験室調査のデザインについて検討し、仮説の検証を行なった。主な洞察は、以下のようにまとめられるだろう。コンフリクト解消の必要性に直面した個人の認識および行動として、以下のような二つの典型的なタイプが見受けられ、その間で観察された分散は、文化的な背景や年齢・性別等によって一部説明される。第一のタイプは、一見相反する情報や矛盾する主張をとりあえず受容し、コンフリクトの状況に注意を向けながら、それを解消していこうとするもの。第二のタイプは、自己の情報や主張の正当性を吟味し、論陣を張ってそれを相手に説得していくものである。それぞれのタイプには長所と短所があり、どちらが有効かは、コンフリクトの性質によって異なる。また、それぞれが創造的なコンフリクト解消に繋がるための支援の方法は大きく異なり、タイプの違いを考慮せずに同じような支援をすることは効果的でない。
