项目摘要

研究最終年度にあたる本年度の研究の第一のテーマは、言語による虚構、映像による虚構を統一的に扱ってきたこれまでの理論的の総括を行うことである。このテーマにかんしては、言語による虚構についての考察からえられた虚構は文化的構成物であるという虚構観、映像による虚構についての考察からえられた、映像表象においても語りの視点はあくまでも比喩的なものにすきないという考察から、虚構というメカニズムを虚構的情報を伝達するための装置として位置づけることこそが、言語、映像による虚構を統一的に扱う唯一の視座であると結論した。この結論をまとめた論文はいったん採用されなかったため、加筆・修正を行い再投稿を準備中である。また映像におけるフィクションにかんする研究成果については、二つの記事において発表(予定)である。本年度の研究の第二のテーマは、虚構の流通にかんする実証的研究であった。具体的には、18世紀後半にイギリスで最初匿名出版されたホレス・ウォルポールの『オトラントの城』(The Castle of Otranto)の初期の版について、ロンドン大英図書館で調査を行い、この小説の著者がじつはウォルポールであり、初版に付された、この小説が中正に書かれたイタリア語のテクストからのマーシャルなる人物による翻訳であるとする口上はじつはフィクションにすぎなかったという情報が、どのように社会的に共有されていったかを跡づけた。この成果については、現地で収集した資料を現在とりまとめているところである。
