まず、日本思想史学会で「荻生徂徠と明代古文辞学-文学と政治-」という論文を口頭発表しました。この発表は、徂徠における文学と政治の関係について、従来の、それが「公と私」に当たり、関心が「文学から政治へ」移行した、といった理解と異なる見方を提起しました。すなわち、徂徠における文学と政治は共に「文」の状態を維持・表現するものとしています。すると、最初、徂徠が明代古文辞派に着目したことは、文学趣味に止まらず、古文辞的な擬古詩と文章で徳川治世を表現しようとする意識と繋がっていたことを明らかにし、明代古文辞派の著作に含まれていた「理」よりも「辞」「事」の方を重視するという理念及びこうした理念に基づく政治論が「文」に対する徂徠の追求意識に応え、経学、政治論などを徂徠学として展開・形成させる契機・方向付けになったことを報告しました。次に、去年十二月台湾で行われた「公私領域への新たなる探求:東アジアの観点と西洋との比較」国際学術シンポジウムに参加しました。この「東アジアにおける「公共」概念-歴史の源流と展開-」という論文を発表しました。ここでは、従来論じてきた「公」「私」概念と異なり、「公共」という語を取り上げて、それが言語体系の差異を超えて東アジア(中国と日本)に亘り、漢代中国、理学成立以後、徳川儒学が構築される時、明治日本における西洋知識を受容する時、清末中国において、その意味の変化を考察したものです。歴史的に見れば、近代以後、国家の境界を超えた理学的意味の「公共」が持つ普遍的、開放的な意味はさらに薄くなり、国家内部に収斂されていくと同時に、個人の私を尊重して人民の主権と権利をベースにする意味の"public"の意味も持つようになったということを結論付けました。
