本研究は英国ルネサンス演劇に焦点を当て、権力関係によって定義が変わってくる性暴力がいかに行使、表象されてきたかを捉え直すことを目的とし、初期近代と現代の間にある差異を意識しながら現実の舞台を取り巻く状況を射程に入れ、フェミニズム、ポストコロニアリズムの視点から、権力と暴力の諸相を照らし出すことを特色としている。家父長制を乱す女性を「娼婦」として弾き出す過程を、キリスト教、聖書、現代の小説や映画と絡めて論じたのが、ジョン・フォードの『あわれ、彼女は娼婦』についての論考「『あわれ、彼女は娼婦』だったのか?--アナベラとマグダラのマリアの場合--」である。研究と演劇の現場での連携に意欲的であるため、『シアターアーツ』などにて劇評や翻訳も行っている。また、研究業績には挙げなかったが、ほかの蜷川幸雄演出公演のプログラム制作や演劇雑誌にも寄稿している。同じく研究業績には挙げていないが、スティーブン・グリーンブラット、チャールズ・ミー共作『カルデニオ--シェイクスピアの失われた戯曲に触発されて--』の和訳、「カルデニオ」の間テキスト性をまとめた資料の作成、これらを踏まえて遊園地再生事業団の劇作家の宮澤章夫が書いた『モーターサイクル・ドン・キホーテ』の英訳、五月に横浜みなとみらいの赤レンガ倉庫で行われた公演のプログラムの解説執筆なども行った。この演劇プロジェクトにおけるドラマターグの視点から「日本」の「シェイクスピア」の再構築を巡っての問題を、「倫理」と「文化の位相」という異なるテーマを供えたPSiとShakespeare World Congressという国際学会のパネルのテーマに合せて発表したものが、"Japanese'‘Shakespeare' after the Millennium-Performing ‘Rightly'?,"Metamorphoses of ‘Shakespeare's Lost Play':A Contemporary Japanese Adaptation of Cardenio"である。加えて、日本の劇団ク・ナウカのシェイクスピア悲劇三部作についての論考Ku Na'uka's Shakespearean Tragedy : Encountering the Other on the ‘Japanese' Stageを、劇団主宰の宮城聰とのロング・インタビューの英訳と合せて、Shakespeare World Congressのセミナー'Brave Old World'にて発表した。
