本研究では,地域音環境についての住民意識の検討のため,京都市の伝統的織物産業地域を主な事例地域とした。17年度は,下請けの製織業者が集中的に立地するK地区において,地区内の過去および現在の音環境に関する自由記述式質問紙調査を実施し,244通の回答を得た。また,同地区住民10世帯に対する聞き取り調査をおこない,音環境に関わる社会意識について詳細な知見を得た。前年度までの研究結果と今年度の調査結果からみると,今回の事例地区では,産業音について肯定的態度と否定的態度が混在しているが,否定的にみる者の中にも被害そのものは否定する態度があり,また,受容されるべきものであるとの考えも存在している。この結果,全体としては産業音が受容される傾向が支配的となっていることが知られた。この地域での産業音の受容は,単に個々人の独立した態度の集合とは考えられるものではなく,産業音に対する社会規範が地域住民の間に存在していることを示している。この社会規範は,物理的な音環境の経験と音環境に関わる社会的文脈を,長期間にわたって地域住民が共有してきたことから形成されたものと考えられる。また,このような産業音を受容する社会規範を示す住民の表現に,産業音がこの地域において「あたまえ」の存在である,という論理がしばしばみとめられた。このことから,日常的な音環境は,日常的であること自体が根拠となって正当性を獲得する傾向があることが知られた。これらの知見は,単純な量反応関係で地域の音環境に対する態度を推定することが不十分であることを示すものであり,今後の音環境マネジメントを考える上で意義のあるものと思われる。
