平成17年度は、本科学研究費プロジェクトの最終年度として以下の活動を行った。1)平成15、16年度に収集したデータに加え、日本人大学生被験者11名による英語発話をデジタルビデオカメラで録画し、データベース化の作業を継続した。特に被験者の非言語行動(視線、表情、ジェスチャー等)について着目し、その特徴について記述した。その被験者による英語発話ビデオクリップを、アメリカ人判定者(日常的にアジア人との関わりの頻度が高いグループと低いグループの2グループ)に提示し、同被験者の英語発話に対する印象を回答させた。この日本人被験者は、英語習熟度別に上位、下位群にわけられており、被験者の英語能力とアメリカ人判定者の回答との関係について、平成15、16年度に収集したデータと合わせて、現在、分析作業を継続中である。まとまり次第、国内外の学会誌に投稿の予定。2)アメリカ合衆国ウィスコンシン州のUniversity of Wisconsin(Madison校)において開催されたThe 14th World Congress of Applied Linguistics (July 24-29th,2005)のSymposium(Second Language Acquisition and Gesture)において、スピーカーの一人としてForeign Language Development and Gestureという題で研究発表を行い、平成15、16年度に既に収集したデータの一部を紹介し、参加者と議論した。
