项目摘要

最終年度の本年度は,昨年度に引き続き3人称接続法の用例の検討を進めるとともに,これまでに得られた知見や問題点を再吟味しまとめる作業に取り組んだ。テーマ別の主な考察結果は以下の通りである:1,人称と数:接続法は,1人称では全ての数で話し手の「意志表明」及び未来に対する「見込み」を,双・複数では聞き手に対する「勧誘」をも表わし,2,3人称では聞き手,第三者に対する話し手の「意志」及び「見込み」を表わすことが確認された。2,アスペクト:接続法において現在語幹とアオリスト語幹のアスペクトの差が有意的かどうかを明確にするには至らなかった。ただし両語幹が並んで現れる用例の中には,この差が文脈から説明可能なものも存在する。3,時制:接続法が発話時点や未来のみならず,超時間的な一般論を表わし得ることを再確認した。一方語りの時制が過去の時に使われる接続法には,過去の事柄に対する話し手の,又は過去に想定される話し手の,意志や見込みを表わすと解される場合が見られた。後者の場合,過去の話し手の心理が現在の話し手に移入して(その口を借りて)ムードを表現していると理解される。4,命令法との関係:命令法が相手に直接働きかけ,相手への影響やその反応を期待するのに対し,接続法は話し手が一方的に相手の行為を自分の意志として表現すると言える。ただし両方が連続して現れ,その違いを文脈から根拠付けるのが難しい場合も多い。5,文構造:主文・主節における接続法の殆どは「意志」として理解可能であり,「見込み」が排他的に想定される用例は少ない。従属節では,話し手の意志が入る場合と純粋に未来の事態に言及する場合とが見られたが,区別できない用例も少なくない。接続法が主語の意志を表わすと判断され得る場合は,意志の担い手が話し手から主語に移っている可能性がある。一方,1人称疑問文が聞き手の意志を問う場合があるのは,疑問という行為によって意志の担い手が聞き手に移された結果と理解出来よう。年度末まで増幅・修正し続けた調査項目及び調査内容の多様性から,これらを包括的に学会等で発表する機会を得るには至らなかった。しかし考察と平行して行なった用例のデータベース化とともに,概ね当初の予定であったリグヴェーダにおける接続法についての多面的な検討と理論的枠組みの設定を完了した。
