项目摘要

1.本研究の目的は,テキスト・データベースを用いて,世界最大の叙事詩とされる『マハーバーラタ』と『ラ-マ-ヤナ』の韻律分析を行うこと,それによって,これら両叙事詩の成立過程解明に資することである。2.昨年度は,作成した韻律分析プログラムによって,『マハーバーラタ』第1巻と2巻について,シュローカ律の自由律部およびトリシュトゥブ律を調査し,(1)物語の主筋にかかわる部分,(2)導入部,神話・伝説部分の2部分が,『マハーバーラタ』の中で混在しながらも,韻律の特徴によて截然と区別されることを指摘した。3.本年度は,(1)多数のテキストデータベースを入手し,それらの韻律分析を行った。これは韻律の歴史的な発展過程を,世界で初めて,全体的にたどるためである。ことに『リグ・ヴェーダ』は,韻律に忠実な新版が電子テキストとともに出版されたのを機に,全体の韻律を把握した。これによって『マハーバーラタ』の韻律を史的推移の中に置くことができた。4.また(2)caesura(句切れ)を表示できるように韻律プログラムを改良した。5.さらに(3)このプログラムによって『マハーバーラタ』第3巻と6巻について,昨年度の仮説が成立することを再確認した。詩人が無意識で作った部分の統計には,詩人や時代の個性が反映していることの発見は重要であると信じる。
