研究期間全体を通じて、予備調査28件、本調査337件の聞き取りを行った。研究期間終了ぎりぎりまでデータ収集をしたため、データの計量的な解析は今後の課題となるが、それに先立ち質的なデータをもとにいくつかの試論的な論考を刊行し、アルゼンチンからのデカセギの特質をめぐる21の仮説群を提示した。さらに、現時点で重要と思われる論点と暫定的な知見は以下のようにまとめられる。(1) これまでさほど重視されてこなかったが、日系世代による滞日経験の差は大きい。これは、日本語能力のような文化的要因のみによるのではなく、世代によりアルゼンチンでの職業が異なることにもよっている。全体に、二世や三世よりも一世のほうが、デカセギがもたらす便益は大きい。(2) 事実上、家族内の誰でもデカセギできる条件が存在するため、家族内でとりうるデカセギ形態には多くのバリエーションがある。これを、デカセギのもたらすリスクとベネフィットの観点、および経路依存的に家族戦略が規定されるという観点から分析する必要がある。(3) アルゼンチン人の集住地域として、神奈川県の鶴見と湘南台、愛知県の碧南がある。人口規模が大きいブラジル人に比して、アルゼンチン人のコミュニティは小規模であり、アルゼンチンからのデカセギの全体像を描くような記述が可能である。鶴見、湘南台、碧南といった地区は、アルゼンチン人コミュニティの形成と変容に関していわば細密画を描く拠点となる。(4)日本での職業移動のあり方を決定するのは、学歴やアルゼンチンでの職歴よりも、日本語能力によるところが大きい。その意味で、2008年秋の米国金融危機以降に生じた日系人の大量解雇に必要な対策として、短期間の雇用機会創出よりもむしろ、日本語の読み書きも含めて日本語力を高め、職業移動を可能にすることであることが示唆される。
