本年度は完成年度であることを鑑みて、科学研究費報告書の目次・体裁を意識しつつ史料の収集とデータ整理につとめた。これまで行ってきた作業のうち、まとまりのある、かつ一定の成果をもつものとして、I.平安〜鎌倉期の古記録に記された指図・絵図の当該記事データベース、II.国立公文書館所蔵「押小路家文書」にみえる指図・絵図データベース、の二つを取り上げることにした。それぞれが約500件前後からなるデータベースであり、今後の活用が期待される。Iについては、昨年度までにある程度の形を整えていたので、追加補充という形でデータを補い、今年度はむしろ先行研究の整理と、本研究の分析にもとづいた考察を加えることに主眼をおいた。結果として「装束指図」という命名やその他の指図の分類、指図の作成・活用・伝承という実態面について、先行研究を批判的に継承しつつ、独自の見解を提示することができた。IIについては、昨年度に引き続き国立公文書館に調査に赴き、指図・絵図の当該箇所を、マイクロ撮影の紙焼き複写という形ですべて入手し終えた。データベース作成時に気付いた点を、解説としてまとめている。さらに平安期の指図・絵図を考えるうえで有益な指図を、国立公文書館の掲載許可のもと計6点紹介している。平安期の記事にみえる指図に相当するものと考えられる江戸期の指図を見つけるなど、前近代の宮廷儀礼に共通する指図論を見通すことができた点でも、きわめて重要な成果であった。
