児童が自然に持っている比例的推論を適当な外的表象を利用して自覚化し、意図的に利用できるようにした上で、割合概念の学習をこのベースの上に導入することで、程度を表現するある種の量として割合を導入することが可能となった.またそうした導入の結果として、単元の後半でも量的な感覚に依拠して自分の思考を制御しながら学習を進めることができ、さらに次年度の関連した内容の学習においても、同様の学習の様相が見られた.
